President's Report
From the Desk of the Chapter President
Dear Members,
As summer begins, we find ourselves approaching the close of another successful ASPE year. I’m writing this message while on a family vacation in Florida, which has given me a welcome moment to reflect on everything our chapter has accomplished together. It’s been a year defined by collaboration, growth, and the continued dedication of our members.
Registration is now open for the ASPE Convention this October, and I encourage everyone to consider attending. With the event taking place just a short drive away in Oklahoma City, this is an excellent opportunity to participate in a national‑level gathering without extensive travel. The convention always delivers valuable technical sessions, networking opportunities, and the chance to connect with peers from across the country.
We also still have an available delegate spot for anyone interested in joining us for the business portion of the meeting. If you’ve ever wanted to be more involved at the Chapter or even Society level or gain insight into how ASPE operates behind the scenes, this is a great way to do it. Please reach out if you’d like to be considered.
As we wrap up the year, I’m especially looking forward to our upcoming golf tournament. This event has become a highlight for our chapter and serves as our final major gathering before we break for the summer and restart activities in September. It’s always a great opportunity to unwind, reconnect, and celebrate the hard work that has carried us through the year.
Thank you for your continued support, participation, and commitment. I’m grateful for the privilege of serving as your chapter president and excited for what lies ahead.
Let the good times flow,
Joe Poplinger
VP Technical
Hello ASPE members! Thank you to those who were able to attend the April meeting over Commercial Water Reclamation Systems & Applications. The May meeting covered Commercial Utility Controllers and was sponsored by McCoy Sales. This was the final meeting of the year. Thank you for all of the support! We hope you make it to the ASPE golf tournament in June and have a great summer!
Thanks,
VP Membership
Hey Kansas City ASPE folks!
Summer has a arrived and I’m sure everyone is looking forward to enjoying fun in the sun!
But!! The membership drive does not stop, we are looking out for new members!! Please recommend ASPE to colleagues and coworkers or bring them out to a meeting! For potential new member your first meeting and lunch is on us! Our technical sessions are a great way to earn PDHs for maintaining licensure, our local events and chapter meetings are great networking opportunities with our group, and the technical resources and other special ASPE programs are just some of the benefits of membership!!
If you are interested in joining or needing to renew, visit the ASPE website here: Join ASPE
Membership has it’s privileges!
As a member of our KC chapter you are able to attend our dedicated chapter meeting lunches for free and earn PDHs to maintain licensure. On average, attending each chapter meeting over a 2-yr period would get you around 60% of your necessary PDH credits needed for continuing education. All while networking with like-minded professionals and keeping up with industry topics that are presented at meetings. It’s a no-brainer, especially if your company will cover membership costs to help maintain your license.
ASPE CONNECT
Members have access to ASPE Connect forums! This is a wealth of knowledge from contributors across the country! If you have some unique issue or question on a particular design?? Chances are there is some discussion of it on these forums or someone willing to provide some advice for any questions you might post. Try it out!! https://connect.aspe.org/home

Members have access to education resources and CEUs via webinars and past resources that help to keep you current on maintaining licensing and credentials. Check it out: https://education.aspe.org/
Any questions related to membership, please contact me at [email protected].

Affiliate Liason
Hello KC ASPE Affiliates! As we head into our summer “break” I was reflecting on all the meetings, events, trade shows, golf tournaments, etc. we all participate in. I honestly believe we have a great group of affiliates in KC. I enjoy seeing you all at events and hanging out with my “competition” 😊 We have a great dynamic going on here in KC and I feel fortunate to work with all of you. Don’t forget to sign up for the golf tournament! Looking forward to seeing you all.
Thank you,
Education Committee
Update: We passed around a get-well card for David Kaibel in April and wanted to share an update that David is back home after a successful surgery in April. His recovery is going well, though he will be out on medical leave for a while. He mentioned that he’s sorry to miss the upcoming ASPE golf outing!
